Welcome to spooky season! It is the first week of October and Fall has officially set in here on the East Coast. For now I am planning for six months out and the biggest event that is coming up this year is my graduation. This month is more of a filler month for me without any big events or holidays, but that does not mean October 2022 is without goals.
October 2022 Goals
1. Make a list for post-grad opportunities – I graduate in less than three months and I need to start figuring out what comes next. As a person with a huge imagination, anxious tendencies, and surprisingly good planning skills. I figured I would revert back to my senior-year of high school self that had acceptance letters for college in her hand before Christmas and entered the New Year with no stress. What this means for current me is that I am finalizing my list of Master’s programs, reaching out to old professors for letters of recommendation, networking, and applying to jobs.
2. Apply for FAFSA – I cannot believe it is time for my annual reminder that the Free Application for Federal Student Aid opened on October 1st for the 2023-2024 school year. After graduation I am headed on a trip for a month and I will not have time to complete my application before the priority deadline when I get back. Plus, I am a huge procrastinator so getting it done now will have me stress free later.
3. Finish Thrifting My Fall Wardrobe – My fall wardrobe is pretty much fleshed out because I actually started my personal style journey last Spring/Summer. Before I go on to thrift the rest of my wardrobe, I will take inventory and pick out a few more pieces to purchase. You can check out a thrift haul I posted of my most recent Fall thrifts over on my Insta and if you like, give ya girl a follow.
4. Make at least three Fall-themed treats – I love to cook, bake, eat any type of seasonal food. I’m thinking about making some savory and sweet treats in my dorm. At the moment I am not sure what’s the move, but if you see me posting about pumpkin cookies, or something, just know that I found my choices. I also really want to make some soup. Last semester I absolutely devoured tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for over a week straight.
5. Go to at least three Fall-themed events – Farmer’s market, pumpkin path, apple-picking, and fall festival. That is all I want to do this month. I guess that is four Fall-themed events but I have never been good at counting.

My motivation this month comes from:
cozy academia autumn fashion search on Pinterest for the rest of my Fall wardrobe (I really think I could pull this look off)
@the.itgirl.diaries on Instagram for personal development
@introtoeclectism’s tiktok for book recommendations by Black authors
This article from IvyPanda on social media in the learning process as I prepare for midterm exams this week
@imdrebrown for tips on surviving corporate life as Gen Z {I just started my first ever internship)
Check back next month for more goals. Have a happy October guys!
