Hey! Welcome to the first post of 2021! I am so glad that we made it out of the-year-that-shall-not-be-mentioned. Personally, I try not to set New Year’s resolutions because I never keep them. Instead, I set goals throughout the year and work to incorporate them into my routine. That is how I became a semi-consistent exerciser last year. This year my goal is to write more blog posts, aiming for consistency over perfection. My previous posts went up far apart because I overthink things and procrastinate until I feel like my writing is perfect. In 2021, I will write whatever I want, whenever I want, without letting perfectionism get in the way. Which is the reason why this post is going up without a picture.
10 of Last Week’s Favs from Me to You
1. Those Plastic Hair Ties
Either my hair is finally long enough to resist the tugging, or plastic hair ties are as comfortable as people say. A few weeks ago I purchased a pack from Forever 21 and put them to the test last week. I am happy to say they pass the test and are well on their way to becoming my staple hair tie for college.
2. This Pound Cake Recipe
Pound cake is not my go-to baked good of choice, but this recipe takes the cake (see what I did there). If you are looking to catch the baking trend this round of lockdown, I highly recommend you sweeten the deal with this pound cake.
3. Planners
If you take the song “Boys” by Lizzo and replace the word ‘boys’ with ‘planners’, that will sum up how much I love planners. My life runs on routines and to-do lists, so I decided to create my own custom planner for this year. Last year I used the Day Designer Planner from Target and I still recommend it if you are still looking for a planner.
4. The Walking Dead
Every few episodes I say that I am through with this show, but I always keep on watching. Back in my Wattpad days, ‘surviving the zombie apocalypse’ was my favorite genre of books, so I guess some things never change even when you want them to.
5. Bridgerton
Now, this is a show that I will continue watching. Once I have finished my planner project, I actually want to watch the show again. Although I love the romantic storyline, I was really into the Lady Whistledown mystery more and that final reveal shook me to the core. Shonda Rhimes never disappoints.
6. My UGGS
Are they basic? Yes. Do I love them? Also yes. Comfort is key and you can never go wrong with a pair of UGGS. One day I will find a show that is easy to slip on and off, comfortable for shopping days, warm, and not basic. Until that day arrives I will continue to wear my UGGS everyday during the winter.
7. This meme format
9. Making Pepper Kala
Wow, I am very proud to announce that I have officially activated my Liberian genes and made Pepper Kala from scratch. Most West Africans enjoy Kala/ Puff puff, so learning how to make it was also to satisfy my personal cravings for the delicious fried dough.
8. Heated Blankets
Move over, weighted blankets, there’s a new best blanket in town. Just kidding, weighted blankets rightfully won the award for best blanket ever, but I dream of a heated blanket + weighted blanket combo. I would never get out of bed.
10. Good Rest
There are always things to do, but taking the time to rest last week felt amazing. I may have overdone it a bit. 3 PM is a weird time to make breakfast and midnight felt like noon. My sleep schedule is regulating just in time for me to fly back to Korea.
I am happy that we made it to see 2021 and cannot wait for better days. Wishing you all the success and happiness for the New Year! See you on the flip side.
